Who We Are

Our Founders

The Big Bend Maritime Center is run out of the Larry Tucker Watercraft Center with the support of The Wakulla County Board of Commissioners and local sponsors.

Our Volunteers

The Big Bend Maritime Center is a 501 C (3) organization directed by a volunteer board, and run by volunteer instructors and volunteer assistants.

Our Students

We have a class for just about anyone - group classes for families or friends, summer camps for kids, or semester-long classes for adults.

What We Offer

Classes and Camps

We primarily operate through boatbuilding classes and camps for people of all ages. These classes include general woodworking and safety lessons, as well as the opportunity to build an entire boat from the bottom up. Check the "Classes" tab to see current and upcoming classes.

Boat Restorations

We also accept donations of antique boats that must be restored. Our volunteers work on these boats when we do not have classes in session. See the "Projects" tab for a list of current restorations we are working on.

Boatbuilding Demonstrations

You can find us out and about in the Big Bend area at a variety of festivals and boat shows doing live boatbuilding demonstrations. Check the "News & Events" tab for a list of events we will be at, or contact us if you are interested in bringing us to your event.
